About Me.
I’m Darcy Gabriel and I’m a Digital Media Graduate.
My interest with Digital Media began as a child playing games I was way too young for and obsessing over Disney movies. I loved stories and the more unique the format of the story, the better. From this I developed an absolute passion for telling stories of my own, especially in emerging formats. My first success at game design was small, yet momentous in fuelling my passion. This was the completion of my first 3D game, Crito. Using the Unity engine I developed a small, horror game. Whilst the game was short and far from perfect, it worked and it was finished. I have since focused on other projects to broaden my horizon, including traveling to Italy in July of 2019 to complete a 30-day long Scriptwriting course. Not only did I learn invaluable skills in storytelling and writing for the screen, I used this opportunity to explore another culture and practice my photography. Later the same year, I completed Inktober, a month-long challenge to draw something each day from a prompt list. The prompts are often extremely vague and allow for a lot of creativity to come through, for example, for the prompt "Ornament" I draw an Astronaut as a Christmas tree-style ornament, floating between ornament planets. Now, as I near the end of my Bachelor, I am completing yet another video game, “Setting of the Sun”, a short story game that explores the moment before death. The moment we relive memories from the past. |
